Mario Tennis Aces, the Switch’s first Mario sports game, will give players a taste of the game when the title’s three daylong online tournament demo starts later this evening.
Starting at 6 p.m. PDT, the Mario Tennis Aces demo gains its playable portion and concludes Sunday, June 3 just before midnight. Over the course of the tournament, players can try out multiple characters and unlock a special classic-themed outfit for Mario while volleying on the court for first place. The trial can be played for as long as one wishes within the tourney period.
Nintendo has done this type of pre-launch competitions before, notably with Splatoon 2‘s Global Testfire and ARMS‘ Global Testpunch. Like Mario Tennis Aces‘ test drive versus mode, the Global Testfire and Testpunch were only playable for a few days before the respective games launched. However, they had very specific time windows to compete, sometimes only for an hour a day.
Nintendo also has a special offer (300 bonus Gold Points) for MyNintendo members who pre-purchase the digital version of Mario Tennis Aces through the eShop or the publisher’s website up until midnight EDT on June 21. The full game releases June 22.
